The USA is called the country of immigrants because America is known for being a land where many immigrants come from. It is very diverse compared to other countries.

Many immigrants came to America because they wanted to be free from persecution and poverty. Depending on where the immigrants were coming from, they all had different reasons for leaving their homeland.

In order to assert their traditional rights, American Patriots seized control of the colonies and launched a war for independence. The Americans declared independence on July 4,1776, raised armies under the command of General George Washington, forged a military alliance with France, and captured the two main British invasion armies. Nationalists replaced the governing Articles of Confederation to strengthen the federal government's powers of defense and taxation with the Constitution of the United States in 1789, still in effect today.

I don't know if America is the most tolerant nation, but it does have to be tolerant simply because there is more diversity than most countries. With the influx of people from other places, the US has more racial and cultural diversity than probably anywhere else. But of course that means more tension as well.

An American invention that was barely noticed in 1947 went on to usher in the Information Age. In that year John Bardeen, William Shockley, and Walter Brattain of Bell Laboratories drew upon highly sophisticated principles of quantum physics to invent the transistor, a small substitute for the bulky vacuum tube.
